Introducing the taste of things to come - from Eurofoods
SUCCESSFUL local ethnic food importer and distributor, and Chamber member, Eurofoods launched its Crown Farms brand to the public at the BBC Good Food Show.
The new range of parathas and pickles was previously only accessible to specialist caterers and chefs. Visitors to the show were able to sample the light and flaky parathas which the company is marketing as an alternative to naan breads and poppadums. The parathas can be rolled with stir fried meat or vegetables, served as an accompaniment to a curry or, as at the Show, dipped into one of the extensive range of Crown Farms pickles.
The parathas and pickles represent a small selection of the Eurofoods product line. The Crown Farms brand also offers items such as: frozen black tiger and freshwater prawns; exotic fish such as silver pomfret and tilapia; unusual vegetables including okra, karela and kachur mukhi; and a range of over 70 herbs and spices, from coriander to garlic, from cloves to cinnamon. Eurofoods report rapid growth over the past decade under chairman and founder Shelim Hussain MBE, who started the business while still at college after recognising a gap in the market for high quality, naturally produced frozen produce for ethnic restaurants. Newport-based Eurofoods, has since become one of the leading manufacturers, processors, importers and distributors of frozen seafood, meat, poultry, dry goods and other products across Europe.
Ahead of the show Shelim Hussain MBE, said: "Consumers will be offered parathas to taste at the BBC Good Food Show, this means that we will have received a good deal of consumer feedback as to wether there is a retail market for our foods, for which I am convinced there is."
