Storage | The key is to store potatoes in a cool dry place, like in the cabinet of a pantry, in a paper bag or cardboard box. It's important to keep potatoes at the cool, ideal temperature (but not, surprisingly, the fridge) to prevent them from turning green, getting soft spots, or pre-maturely sprouting. |
Cooking Guidelines | wash potatoes.hob (for boiled) peel potatoes & if needed cut into evenly sized pieces. place in a saucepan & cover with boiling water. return to the boil, cover & simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender. drain & serve. for mash: follow the hob instructions. after draining return to a warm hob for 1 minute to dry. add milk, butter & seasoning according to preference. mash until creamy smooth & serve. oven (for roasts) pre-heat oven. put 2 - 4 tbsp. of vegetable oil in a roasting tin & place in oven. peel & cut potatoes into evenly sized pieces & part boil for 10 minutes. drain thoroughly removing excess water, shake in pan to roughten the surfaces of the potatoes. carefully transfer theppotatoes into the hot roasting tin, turn in the oil & season. return to the oven for 55-60 minutes, turning occasionally until golden (not darker). all appliances vary these are guidelines only. |
